EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

These resources are intended for teachers who want to bring some of the research methods from this project into the classroom. Below there are 3 different activities to choose from, each targeting a different research method used within this project. Each activity can be tailored to address any age group from grades 1-8.

Activity 1:
Kitchen Interviews

By conducting their own interviews, students will recreate the methodology and procedure of the Designing Domestic Dining project, learn how to conduct this type of research, and explore connected themes about movement (of ideas and things; activities), hybridity, and belonging.

Activity 2:
Food Research

By researching a personal favorite or culturally significant food, students will learn about the majour themes of the Designing Domestic Dining project:  movement (of ideas and things; activities), hybridity, and belonging. Students will also learn about how to research history and aspects of material culture.

Activity 3:
Exploring  Designing Domestic Dining

By learning about the process and findings of the Designing Domestic Dining project, students will learn about the culinary and interior culture of the Antiollian diasporic community in Ottawa and Montreal. Students will learn about the major themes of this research:movement (of ideas and things; activities), hybridity, and belonging. Students will also learn about how to research history through interviews.
